About us
Ann started the business in January 2004 in the South Molton Pannier Market on Saturday mornings. This was a way to sell the jam she made with the surplus fruit grown for the hotels and restaurants. Having never made jam before the first few years were quite challenging!
Within two years all the fruit was needed for jam making and more fruit established to enable growth of the jam business. In 2010 Ann’s niece, Lucy, joined her in the business and in 2017 Ann’s husband Neil also joined the family team.
In 2015 we moved from North Devon to Mid Devon, a more central location with a better soil conditions and climate. We bought a very old farmhouse with a ‘falling down’ stable block. Permission was granted to replace the stable block with a purpose built jam kitchen. We had the bonus of still being at home but we had even more land for fruit growing and many well established fruit trees into the bargain.
Although our business has grown over the years we still only make in small batches. When we say ‘small batches’, it means each cooking pot will make about 20 jars of jam. Only a little bit more really than you would make at home and we use the same method as you would at home. This, and the quality of our ingredients, is why we believe people love our jams, marmalades and chutneys so much.
Husband, Neil, looks after all the fruit growing and picking as well as delivering to our network of customers in the West Country.
We now supply farm shops, delicatessens, cheese specialist retails and independent outlets, as well as many cafes and restaurants, who place great importance in offering top quality, local produce. Our products can be found in many of these outlets through the West Country and few much further afield.
